Operations
24/7
The correct vehicle must satisfy the load's weight, longest dimension, total volume, pallet footprint and loading method at the same time. Operations also checks door clearance, wheel arches, tail-lift capacity, site access and route restrictions. Choosing only by pallet count can produce an unsafe or unusable vehicle.
| Vehicle | Internal space | Payload guide | UK pallets | Loading |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7.5T Lorry | 6m × 2.3m × 2.2m | 2,500kg | 10 | Tail lift up to 800kg, subject to vehicle |
| 18T Lorry | 7.5m × 2.4m × 2.5m | 9,000kg | 14 to 16 | Tail lift up to 1000kg, subject to vehicle |
| 26T Lorry | 7.5m × 2.4m × 2.5m | 15,000kg | 14 to 16 | Tail lift up to 1000kg, subject to vehicle |
| Artic (40–45ft) | 13.5m × 2.4m × 2.7m | 24,000kg | 26 | Curtain-side availability |
Dimensions, payloads and pallet counts are planning guides, not booking guarantees. Body type, equipment, axle limits and individual vehicle specification can reduce usable capacity. Operations confirms the proposed vehicle before dispatch.
Operations starts with the actual load rather than the vehicle name. The team verifies dimensions, weight distribution, packaging, stackability, loading equipment and delivery access before sourcing capacity. The selected vehicle must remain suitable at both sites and throughout the route, including any restricted urban, ferry or European movement.
Record every item's dimensions, combined weight, pallet type and handling restrictions.
Confirm doors, yards, loading equipment, surfaces, booking slots and vehicle restrictions.
Allow for the body type, payload plate, tail-lift rating and restraint method.
Issue the vehicle plan, driver details and operations-led progress updates.
Accurate collection planning requires more than an address and pallet count. Provide the packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, goods description, loading method, access limits and named contacts. If a forklift, tail lift, side loading, load restraint or timed slot is required, state it before the vehicle is confirmed.
Send the load dimensions, total weight, route and handling conditions. Operations will confirm suitable capacity and availability.
